Whether your memories of university involve early mornings rowing on the Isis, late nights at the Cambridge Union, cycling over cobblestones, or studying beneath the dome of the Radcliffe Camera, we all share a distinct bond. It is a bond forged in academic rigor, steeped in tradition, and now, rooted firmly in the vibrant soil of Kenya.

Welcome to the brand new digital home of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Kenya.

While our Society has been active for decades – hosting our legendary Boat Race Dinners and facilitating networking across Nairobi and beyond – this website marks a new era of connectivity for our alumni network.

Why We Are Here

For many of us, returning to or moving to Kenya after our studies brought a shift in perspective. We traded grey UK skies for the Nairobi sun, and college halls for the dynamic energy of East Africa. But the desire for intellectual discourse, spirited debate, and meaningful connection remained.

This website aims to bridge the gap between our history in the UK and our present in Kenya. It serves as a hub for:

Impact: Leveraging our collective expertise to contribute positively to Kenyan society through charitable initiatives and educational outreach.

Connection: Reconnecting old friends and sparking new professional relationships between alumni across industries—from law and finance to conservation and the arts.

Mentorship: guiding the next generation of bright Kenyan students who aspire to attend Oxford or Cambridge.

What to Expect

Moving forward, this blog will be the pulse of the Society. Here is what you can look forward to in the coming months:

  • Event Recaps & Photos: Did you miss the Annual Boat Race Dinner? We’ll share the highlights (and the verdict on whether Dark Blue or Light Blue took the trophy).
  • Alumni Spotlights: Interviews with members doing fascinating work in the region.
  • Thought Leadership: Opinion pieces and essays from members on current affairs, economics, and culture in Kenya.
  • Admissions Guidance: Updates on scholarship opportunities (like the Rhodes or Gates Cambridge) for prospective students.

Education is the key to the future… But education is not just for the individual; it is for the community. The man who has been educated has a responsibility to the society which made his education possible.
